Business Operations Manager

Our client, a leading international shipping group, is seeking a senior Business Operations Manager to lead operations and administration across its Technical function.

Expectations

This is a senior, trusted role, reporting to the CTO, leading operations and administration across our client’s global Technical function. This position will set and uphold the standard for how the function operates day-to-day, ensuring everything runs with professionalism and purpose.

  • Own corporate operations and administration within Technical, working closely with the Chief Technical Officer to manage team activities, ensuring efficiency and efficacy of management and execution.
  • Work closely with HR and Corporate Operations to align people, culture, and ways of working across the Technical function.
  • Anticipate issues, remove operational blockers, and ensure the CTO and Technical leadership can focus on strategic priorities.
  • Design, document, and refine administrative and operational processes across offices, making them simple, robust, and scalable.
  • Put in place appropriate controls, standards, and governance frameworks for office operations, ensuring discipline without unnecessary bureaucracy.
  • Lead or contribute to cross-organisational projects and initiatives that touch offices, services or ways of working.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a senior operation, office operations, or administration leadership role, ideally across multiple locations.
  • Experience operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, high-growth environment where pace, standards, and judgement matter.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, with experience managing budgets, suppliers, contracts, and making value-for-money decisions.
  • Experience leading and developing small, multidisciplinary admin/office teams.
  • Comfortable working closely with HR, IT, and Finance, understanding how these functions connect to office operations and employee experience.
  • Strong organisational judgement, discretion, and stakeholder management skills
